Objectives:

-           My students will do research on the ways people watch or listen to the news.

-           My students will learn how to read charts and graphs, how to form more detailed questions and how to report on facts and figures.

-           My students will have the opportunity to develop their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.

The Framework of Materials and Methods

1.1            Introduction:  setting the scene

As Richards (1985:1) reminds us, ‘the current status of English has turned a significant percentage of the world’s population into part-time users or learners of English’.

Many teachers work in geographical isolation, and may not have access to channels of professional communication (journals, conferences, in-service training courses); different countries have widely differing educational systems and philosophies, resulting in teachers being subject to different expectations and pressures.

A professional ‘common core’ is broadly made up of two kinds of factors:  firstly, of the various wide-ranging criteria on which decisions about language teaching programmes are based, and secondly, on the pedagogic principles according to which materials and methods are actually designed. ......

Objectives:

-           My students will be able to understand words related to the Internet.

-           My students will be able to understand some useful abbreviations that people use on the Internet and in chat rooms.

-           My students will be able to be more familiar with the operation of a computer and the Internet.

-           My students will practise and reinforce the vocabulary that they have learnt through reading and completing a letter.

无意间翻到《贝塔斯曼书友会》（2008年1月）宣传册，有这样的问答：

“想无师自通，英语出口成章？”

“读赖世雄美语，轻松克服语言关！”（Pp. 2～3）

在充分肯定和欣赏《贝》能够通过这样巧妙的语言赢得消费者信任的同时，我想到的是，更多的消费者在不了解英语语言学习的情况下，花了大量的时间、金钱和精力，却收不到良好的效果。正如许多关于减肥的广告，通过各种方式，让消费者甚至专家都认为这样的产品可以让任何人达到另他（她）们满意的效果，其实不然。其关键在于，每一件物品，都会有它的优越性，却也有它的弊端。这件物品不可能适合于所有人，归根结底，每个人都需要找到最适合自己的那件。

我又想到我身边想学习英语的朋友都会询问我，究竟什么样的教材好，英语该如何学。其实，教材、方法都是因人而异。

今天，我想借助自己八年英语教学的实践和经验，谈一谈《赖世雄美语从头学》究竟适合哪一类英语学习者，也好使朋友们有个参照。

我非常赞同赖世雄先生的英语学习方法（摘抄、整理如下）。其实，９６年李阳先生创办的《疯狂英语》有声杂志也是相似的理念。我自己多年来学习英语也是这样做的：

1.       熟听录音带上美籍老师的发音，刻意模仿，并把自己的发音录下来比较对照，再修正自己的发音直到自己满意为止。

2.       注重连音及语调，使发出来的声音自然流畅。

3.       随时利用时间自行对话，增加说英语的机会。

4.       善用零星时间：我在走路、等车、坐车、休息的时间都在说英语或看英文书籍。

5.       勤查字典，了解句意后，就利用零星时间慢慢地念，一遍又一遍地重复念，竟然使我能够凭声音记住单词、短语或句子，不知不觉中说英语的速度也越来越快了。

我一直对博客没什么好感。总觉得有炒作之嫌，是一群闲着无聊的人花大量的时间去探讨一个个所谓的“热点”。我总以为，一个真正生活的充实的人是根本没有时间写什么博客的。博客本身，也不应当是提升自己人气以及人生价值的手段和工具。

可是，我现在还是打算写自己的博客。其实，更确切的说，我是要完成我多年来一直想坚持的《我的教育教学实录》。早在2001年，我就在校青年教师基本功大赛的演讲比赛中提出这一想法。在接下来的几年中，我坚持过，却因各种原因，丢失了许多珍藏着的资料。使得我的《实录》残缺不全，令人遗憾。

如今，我想借着博客，这样一个平台，把我的《实录》书写下去。因为按照我当时《实录》的构想，它是让我自己迈向成功的一种促成方式。人需要思考，有思考就需要有文字记录，《我的教育教学实录》记载的是我每天教育教学工作的实况，是我每天最真实的想法。这些想法的集合将是自己教育教学理念的体现，是对我的工作巨大的指引。

我曾想过，我要过精彩的人生，这辈子要留下些什么；我也曾考虑过，我要留下的，就是我的教育教学思想；我更加确定，教育教学思想很难留下，但实录可以留下。那么，从今天开始，我将用我的博客书写我的人生。
